Weaving 2004Well, last year was a bit slow for weaving. I took most of a year off preparing for the wedding and then enjoying married life with my wonderful new wife. I did do a few pieces in 2003 but they're off and on garb now. This year I've been playing a lot with silk. The small thread size offers a lot more design options and the bright colors are a wonder to work with.
This is a piece of silk trim done for a viking dress. The piece shown here is some leftover I put on a pouch. This piece is done using 60/2 silk thread. It uses 32 cards for a width of 3/8 inch. The pattern is from Guntram von Wolkenstein and can be found here.
This is a 'painting' of two castles that I did for an entry in the A&S competition at Siege of Glengary. This piece is done using 60/2 silk thread. It uses 60 cards for a width of 3/4 inch. It was done in double-face with the cards alternatively S/Z threaded.
This piece is a sample of the fleur medalion adapted to weaving. This piece is done using 60/2 silk thread. It uses 20 cards for a width of 1/4 inch. The weaving was done in a hurry so it's not very consistant. I wanted to get the demo done in time to show someone at an event. If the pattern is liked enough to produce I'll be more patient next time.
This is piece of trim I did for a viking outfit for my lady. This image is scanned from the apron dress since I forgot to take a scan before hand. It looks a bit fuzzy since the dress has been through the wash a few times. This piece is done in 8/2 unmercerized cotton. It uses 18 cards for a width of 5/8 inch. The same trim was also used on a hat that my lady made for me. | ||||||||||
